The Law Library

UWLA’s Law Library is a valuable resource to its students and faculty.  With a convenient multimedia lab and considerable online and print materials, it provides all of the resources required by the California State Bar.

Print Materials

An effective study of law necessitates thorough research and a grasp of its tradition, history, terminology, practice, and judgments in the United States and the State of California.  To that end, the Law Library offers in print:

  • Annotated reports
  • Legal Encyclopedias
  • Texts
  • Treatises
  • Case reports
  • Various other materials including those required by the California State Bar.

Online Materials

UWLA is proud to offer its students and faculty two valuable and comprehensive online resources: CALI (Computer Assisted Legal Instruction) and WestlawAccess to these programs is available in the library’s multimedia lab and through wireless networks on both campuses.
CALI is an interactive, computer-based tutorial service provided by the non-profit Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction.  With more than 625 lessons in 32 different legal subject areas, the lessons are a useful tool for mastering material during the semester and for studying for exams.  This service is provided free of charge to our currently enrolled students.

Westlaw is a premier online legal research service providing comprehensive full-text legal, news, public records and business information.  Westlaw’s services also include The West Education Network (TWEN) faculty web pages for current students to access course information, calendars and reading materials, submit assignments or quizzes online, and exchange e-mail with professors and students.

Multimedia Lab

The Law Library’s multimedia lab features the latest technology, is open during regular library hours, and can be used by faculty and currently enrolled students for:
