Applicants with Disabilities

Non-Discrimination Policy

It is the policy and practice of the University of West Los Angeles School of Law to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and state and local requirements regarding students and applicants with disabilities. No qualified individual with a disability shall be denied access to or participation in services, programs and activities of our Southern California law school. Copies of the complete policy regarding student and applicants with disabilities may be obtained from Pat Myers, the Director of Student Services.

It is our desire to ensure that each application is reviewed appropriately. If an applicant believes that he or she has a disability that significantly bears upon the fact that his or her GPA, LSAT or other credentials do not reflect his or her ability, we would welcome a written statement on that issue. If, on the other hand, the applicant demonstrates excellence in spite of the disability, we would like to know about that also. It is not mandatory that an applicant provides this information to the University but it would be greatly appreciated.

Students with a disability have a right to reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Accommodation requests should be submitted in writing to Pat Myers, before the academic program begins, and in accordance with the school’s policy for accommodation of disabled students.

Upon verification of the student’s disability, Pat Myers will work with each student and the University of West Los Angeles on a case–by-case basis to determine appropriate accommodations and maintain academic integrity.

If an applicant would like to discuss the availability of accommodations, or any other matter relating to a disability, please contact Pat Myers at (310) 342-5251. If an applicant is accepted for admission, we must know of any accommodations that are required immediately.
