Performance Program
UWLA’s Performance Program is a way for students with the potential for a successful career in law to overcome extenuating circumstances that would prevent them pursuing their dream at a traditional law school. This program is highly recommended by our alumni as an outstanding opportunity for those who do not meet the requirements for admission as a regular student because of a low LSAT score.
The potential student must satisfy the program’s admission and performance requirements after which they’ll be admitted into the regular law program as a part time student.
Program Admission Requirements
Applicants who score at or above the 10th percentile on the LSAT, and have a bachelor’s or associate’s degree or 60+ units, may qualify for our Performance Program. Through this Program, the applicant is permitted to attend the Introduction to Legal Study course. The applicant will not be required to pay the normal tuition charge for the course, but will have to purchase books and pay a $250 fee.
Performance
Performance in the course will determine whether the applicant will be admitted as a regular student: the applicant will be required to regularly attend class, complete assignments, attend academic support activities and take the final examination. If the applicant earns a ‘C+’ or better in the course, the applicant will be fully admitted to enroll the following semester (provided that transcripts and other documents are on file). No credit is earned for attending the course; however, the course requirement will be waived. Instead the student will be allowed to take a 3-unit elective.
After successful completion of this Program, the student will be limited to part-time law study program during his/her first year. Upon achieving a cumulative grade point average of 2.30 after his/her first year, he/she may attend on a full-time basis.
