Graduation Information

Students are eligible for graduation once they have successfully completed 85 semester units. Students must file a graduation petition at the beginning of the school year in which they plan to graduate. Petitions are distributed to graduating students in the fall of each year.

In any given year, all Juris Doctor Candidates who will complete graduation requirements in July following a summer session may participate in the graduation ceremony in June of that year, provided they have four units or less to complete for their degree. Juris Doctor Candidates who will complete graduation requirements in December following the fall semester are expected to join the candidates for the Juris Doctor degree in the June graduation ceremonies the following year.

A mandatory graduation fee of $175 must accompany the petition to graduate. This fee covers administrative costs, including, but not limited to, a graduation check, bar certification, commencement costs, one diploma insert and cover, and the cap, gown, tassel and hood. Students are permitted to order additional diplomas at the time they petition for graduation at a reduced rate.

All students are required to submit a graduation petition and pay the graduation fee, whether or not they intend to participate in the ceremony.

Students may complete the program at the end of the summer, fall, or spring semesters. Degrees are awarded at the end of each term; however, diplomas are issued after the spring commencement ceremony.
