Dear Dean Dezes and President Brown:
I have had the wonderful opportunity to compete in this year’s National Criminal Procedure Moot Court competition in San Diego last weekend (October 28-30), and I would just like to share my feedback with administration as the experience I have gained from it was the highlight of my law school career. I truly feel so lucky and honored to have even been considered for the competition.
Being a part of this competition and preparing for it as intensely as we all did has built my confidence in ways I did not even know I was capable of. It shed light on areas I did not even know I expressed such a desire for. It helped me find my passion for law and the direction I wish to pursue. It motivated me to realize that so long as I put in the hard work, I can succeed, just as anyone else can.
The competition gave me the chance to compare myself with students from different schools, exposing me to the realization that every student is capable of preparing and delivering just as well as any other student from any school or any state, as long as the work and effort is put in. What I gained is so much more than any trivial sacrifice I had to make to be a part of it. I developed a sense of appreciation, determination, perseverance, confidence, and most importantly, a newly grown understanding of success.
I highly encourage other students to participate in Moot Court because it is an experience unlike any other, which enhances school spirit and motivates students. I feel so privileged to have had the chance to compete during my last semester before I graduate, and it was truly an honor having Professor Glassman as our coach. He completely inspired all of us and encouraged us to challenge ourselves to develop strength, skill, persistence, and confidence. I could not have asked for a better or more motivating coach. My experience during that competition weekend was one I will always cherish and hold on a pedestal. Approximately a month left before completion, and I wish I could compete again!
Thank you so much for providing me with this amazing opportunity! I hope you know how much it has meant to me :)
~ Warmest regards,
Cheryl Simbulan
