Financial AidOur undergraduate students may be eligible for the Pell Grant as well as the subsidized loan and unsubsidized loan. The current 2026-2027 max amount of Federal Pell Grant award is $7,395 and it’s determined by your student aid index, cost of attendance and your status such as full time or part time student. The maximum amount a student may receive in loans as a third year and beyond undergraduate student is $12,500 as an independent student and $7,500 as a dependent student. The current interest is 6.39% and more information can be found by visiting the Studentaid.gov website. Dependent students may also apply for the parent plus loan up to $20,000 per year and no more than $65,000 lifetime limit per dependent. The aggregated loan limit for a dependent student is $31,000 and $57,500 for an independent student.
For our Graduate students who may be eligible, may receive the Direct Unsubsidized Loan $20,500 maximum amount per academic year at the current interest of 7.94% and the loan limit cap is $100,000. The lifetime aggregated loan limit for graduate students is $257,500 which includes your undergraduate student loans. For our Professional Students, JD program, who may be eligible, may receive the Direct Unsubsidized Loan $50,000 maximum amount per academic year at the current interest of 7.94% and the loan limit cap is $200,000. The lifetime aggregated loan limit for graduate students is $257,500 which includes your undergraduate and graduate student loans. How to Apply
To apply for Federal Financial Aid, the first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) via the studentaid.gov website https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. The FAFSA required for the next academic year is 2026-2027. Our federal school code is 009170. If planning on using student loans, we will need the following items completed as well:
• Loan Entrance Counseling https://studentaid.gov/entrance-counseling/
o Must select the type of student you will be either undergraduate or graduate professional for the Master program or JD program.
• Master Promissory Note (MPN) https://studentaid.gov/mpn/
o Must select the type of student you will be either undergraduate or graduate professional for the Master program or JD program.
• Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement
o Must select the type of student you will be either undergraduate or graduate professional for the Master program or JD program.
Once admitted to UWLA, we will provide you with the Financial Aid portal link to complete any additional documents required, review your budget and college financing plan, and review your award letter.
