Mr. Canas has over eighteen years of experience working in a library setting. He oversees the operations of the library and the functions of both campus libraries. This includes, staffing, hours and making sure that the library meets all library standards set by its accrediting bodies as well as industry standards. ​​​​​​​

He was employed by 2001 by The University of La Verne Law Library, later in 2002 he became part of the UWLA family.

His hobbies consist of painting, drawing, and photography. He has taken part in many art exhibits throughout the Los Angeles and Valley areas including the famous Los Angeles Art Walk as well as coffee houses and galleries.
