Biography: I graduated from UCLA, with a BA in Political Science (International Relations Emphasis) and a JD from UCLA Law School. Currently I am a full-time professor of constitutional law at the University of West Los Angeles (UWLA). I also regularly give lectures in China to Chinese officials and students and to LLM students in the United States on a broad range of topics, including topics on ethics and American legal and political systems. Prior to 2013, I was the Civil Law Division’s Chief Assistant Attorney General under former Attorney General Jerry Brown and current Attorney General, Kamala Harris. As chief I oversaw the work of over 600 attorneys and paralegals whose primary mission was to represent the more than 200 state agencies in court and administrative proceedings. Prior to becoming the chief I worked primarily in the Business and Tax Section as manager and lead attorney in numerous complex business and tax cases, including several investment and real estate fraud cases. I also served as one of the office’s bankruptcy law experts and instructors. In the course of my practice I was lead counsel on numerous cases that resulted in published opinions. I also mentored and trained well over one-hundred students and interns, many of whom are now lawyers and judges throughout the country. Education: BA in Political Science from UCLA, JD from UCLA.
