Biography:
Admitted to the California Bar and United States District Court, Central, Eastern, Northern and Central Districts of California; U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit in 1989. Mr Tiggs’ educational background is: Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA (B.A., French & Broadcasting, 1984), UWLA School of Law (J.D., 1988). Mr. Tiggs has exclusively practiced in the bankruptcy area since being admitted to the bar. He represents debtors, creditors and trustees, including bankruptcy litigation and appeals before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals; and he is a U.S. Army combat veteran (Field Artillery OEF 08-09)—Lt. Col. (Ret.) and Bronze Star recipient. Special Certifications: He is a Certified Specialist, Bankruptcy Law, State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Honors and Awards: Mr. Tiggs is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell; and was nominated and selected as a Southern California Super Lawyer, 2006, 2017-2021; and Southern California “Top 100 Bankruptcy Lawyers”, The American Society of Legal Advocates. Pro-Bono/Community Service: Mr Tiggs strongly believes in giving back to the community. For this reason, he has volunteered his bankruptcy legal expertise to the Los Angeles County Bar Association (Public Counsel’s Debtor Assistance Project), providing legal assistance to low-income debtors; Mesereau, Ephraim, Villaraigosa (MEV) Legal Clinic, helping low-income individuals; and The College Legal Clinic (CCS Fullerton), proving legal advice to low/moderate income individuals. Mr. Tiggs is also an active member of his community, Culver City, CA. He serves on various volunteer committees, including service for over 12 years on the Fiesta La Ballona Committee (Past Chair); former two term City of Culver City Planning Commissioner; and former board Member, Culver City Centennial Committee. Speaker/Teacher: Mr. Tiggs is an adjunct professor at UWLA School of Law teaching Bankruptcy Law & Procedure 2001-Present; 2003 Bridging the Gap, Los Angeles County Bar Association Professional Memberships: Mr. Tiggs is a board member of the Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys Association; and a member of the Los Angeles County Bankruptcy Forum, and Los Angeles County Bar Association.
